Yahoo! MyBlogLog to be discontinued - A Scam Email

This is a scam email. Why? Let me quickly summarize what I have observed in this scam email that indicate it is a scam email.

1. Email did not have the Yahoo! official logo

2. Source of this email is not convincing!!
From: Yahoo! "one.yahoo-email.com>"

3. The link redirect you to other web page, that is,  "http://yahoo-email.com/a/hBNZmRnBs19FXB8XEGCNshZL4WB/mybloglog7" instead of what is shown "https://billing.yahoo.com", and "http://yahoo-email.com/a/hBNZmRnBs19FXB8XEGCNshZL4WB/mybloglog2" instead of the real help page of Yahoo!.

4. If you go and Google the website of "http://yahoo-email.com", you will find nothing. In other words, even Google does not want to index this website, do you think you can trust this website?

For those you receive the similar email, do ignore it and just report to Yahoo!. For the sake of display, I purposely remove the re-directly from this scam email to avoid my reader to be re-direct to those scam website unconsciously. The content of this email is shown below:

Yahoo Alert : Warning!Verify Your Account !! (VX2G99AAJ) - Scam Email

This is definitely a scam email. Why? Yahoo! or any providers never send such thing to require their users to send password or personal details for verification. Other methods to justify a scam email can be found in my previous posts in this blog. (You can also simply click the label of Scam Email to check my previous explanation about this matter)

The content of this scam email is stated below: Guess what, your account will be interrupted if you try to reply this kind of scam email. The rule of thumb is to drop an official email to the providers directly if you really afraid that this kind of thing is "true". In fact, we can just ignore them because they just like a dust in our room, which need be cleared up everyday. Because you never be surprised that your room has dust, don't you?

After that, you might need to read what I have mentioned before about "8 ways to verify spam email & avoid cheating " post in Xaivier Blog.

In short, I would like to highlight few points that can immediately help you to ignore this kind of scam email.

1. Do you see your email address in the email? Answer: NO

2. Do you think that Google will use mailboxdata@gmail.com as its email address? Come on. Anyone also can register this email account. So, the answer is: NO

3. Do you think Google people will do this kind of action? Sending an email for verification? Logically speaking, who knows your data is out-of-data or not. Besides, is it your birthday changed from time to time? If it does, what you need to do is just sign in your gmail account directly. Google people are not free to do this kind of task manually. Therefore, let's give this scammer a big NO NO.

How Spammer Attacks My Blog: Step by step Explanation

After attacking by spammers several times. I think I should do something to prevent them to contaminate my blog.

Firstly, I have changed my comment setting in such a way that only registered users can drop a comment in blog. It is really very hard for me to make this decision since I love to hearing something from my visitors. However, the thing is I have no free time to "entertain" those spammers.

Next, I will try my best to explain the way to recognize this spammer in this post. The archive of the comments from this spammer is shown below: (which included a comment from me)
(Note: This spammer was normally attacking my blog by using Anonymous account)

You are a fucking bastard Xaivier. I knew you as a kid in secondary school. You are still up to your fucking pranks. When are you going to change? Dont you have the fear of God in you ? You are ruthless and also a diry lier. Repent and jesus will accept you and redeem you of all your sins. Caltex is real.

1. Let see the time of the first five comments as stated below:
September 28, 2010 4:21 AM
September 28, 2010 4:26 AM
September 28, 2010 5:42 AM
September 28, 2010 5:46 AM
September 28, 2010 9:58 AM

As you can see, all of them are in the same day and with a very short interval time. So, what does it mean? Personally, I think it is just a so-called "single player spammer". In other words, this spammer tried to create an illusion that few "visitors" were giving their personal comment.

2. Logically, if a visitor who want to make a comment as Anonymous, it is quite illogical for them to leave their name or even the place they from. That's why I always say that "a spammer still a spammer".

3. Lastly, if it is true about the rewards, what is the benefit for me to tell me visitors it is actually a spam and scam email? On the other hand, what is the benefit for them (the spammers) who try to convince my visitor that I am wrong? Yes, more people will be cheated and more money they can "earn".

Again, real gold never fear the fire. Good luck to all my visitors here. That's all for today. Feel free to give me a comment about this topic or any suggestion about Xaivier Blog. It will be a great support to Xaivier Blog.

(p/s:Good news for all my visitors here. Eventually, I have received an reply from McDonald regarding this scam email. Feel free to take a look at the post at McDonald's Seasonal Promotion - email scam (10/08/2010))

There are three very obvious parts in this email tell us this is a scam email.

1. First of all, the sender's email address is not from so-called Sony Ericsson. Do you believe that Sony Ericsson not afford to buy email address for their employee but got money to give you??

2. The receiver's email address is not specific. In other words, more than one people will receive this kind of email with the same Ticket number: Sony/89bgn002876/2010. How can the company who will obtain the price. All people who show out this so-called ticket number?? Come on, this is not logic and the company will bankrupt soon this email is real.

3. Finally, please don't greed. I haven't ever applied or participated so-called the Sony Ericsson ongoing year promotion, how the company get me??

The content of this email is shown below:
"From: MR JOHN GIBBS <vt6770516@base.be>

Trade with Stock Genius - Math student discovers formula to produce $1M+ in just 13 months

"Trade with Stock Genius - Math student discovers formula to produce $1M+ in just 13 months."

So, do you believe this kind of email??

After reading the title of this kind of email, I will always ask myself one question:
"If that is a formula to produce $1M+ in just 13 months, why the person still need to SPAM me ???"

Besides, what is the currency,$, and the symbol M stand for in this email?? Although, generally, we know that $ = USD and M = million, for a serious and true email, these kind of matters must be specific.

The content of this email is shown below:

"
I'm assuming you know what I'm talking about. If not, let me take a second to fill you in.
There's a site on the internet that claims to have invented a robot that can pick winning stocks.
All you have to do is hit a button and the software 'magically' tells you what stock is about to explode!
What a joke! I have a better idea. Why don't you just take out your wallet and light it on fire!
Why? This 'robot software' is just a basic software application that scans through a bunch of ticker symbols
and lands on a stock symbol completely at random! It's completely fake!

I realize that there are a lot of services on the internet that you have to chose from, so I'll get straight
to the question you're asking right now. What makes this different? He's a real live person!

stockgenius.com-grab.us

He's developed a unique formula that has made him a millionaire by investing in stocks.
And now he's offering 500 people the opportunity to trade alongside him. This membership will close after
he reach 500 members, so time is of the essence! Or, you can go back and take your chances with the robot.
It's up to you.

Best of luck to you,

Warning: Facebook Password Reset Confirmation! Customer Message. Spam. Scam

After "8 ways to verify spam email & avoid cheating (Verify your Account To Avoid Suspension)" which I had post last few days, I have received one more dangerous but stupid spam email today. As usual, let me shown you why this is a spam email which you can delete it after mark it as a spam mail.
1. As you can see, the title of this spam email is "Facebook Password Reset Confirmation! Customer Message". However, this is not a confirmation email at all.

2. The receiver's email is not my email address.

3. As a giant network provider, Facebook, which will never send such low standard and informal email. Formal email should includes company trademark, terms and conditions, policy and so on.

4. The attached is a zip file which can be used to stored virus easily so it is very dangerous.

5. Who is "Your Facebook"??

6. This spam ever don't know who am I. I mean my user name.

7. Last but not least, I do not have personal Facebook account now. Therefore, I can 100% confirm that somebody is trying to spam everyone randomly!!!

Although the sender's email address is very convincing, Contact Facebook , obviously, this is a dangerous spam email which seems consist of virus or spyware.

Feel free to give me a comment about this topic. It will be a great support to Xaivier Blog.

8 ways to identify spam email & avoid be cheated(Verify your Account To Avoid Suspension)

Today I have received an email from "Yahoo!" with title "Verify your Account To Avoid Suspension", which required some private information from me. Besides that, they said that if I didn't reply them within 24 hours, my favourite Yahoo! account will be suspended!!! However, after I oversee this email several times, I have successfully verify and justify this email is a spam email, again. Eight ways, which I have used to justify this spam email, are shown below:

1. Firstly, let' check the email box as shown above, the spam email did not have the Yahoo! official logo.

2. Next, according this spam email:
"Due to the congestion in all Yahoo users and removal of all unused Yahoo Accounts,Yahoo would be shutting down all unused accounts,You will have to confirm your E-mail by filling out your Login Info below after clicking the reply button, or your account will be suspended within 24 hours for security reasons."
Yahoo! will automatic disable inactive Yahoo! Accounts. Inactive Yahoo! account means you did not sign in your Yahoo! account more than 6 months. Note: Please to check for latest period to define inactive account.

3. As a rule of thumb, Yahoo! NEVER ask user's Password!!!

4. something@yahoo.com is opened to all people to register it. The source of this email is not convincing!!

5. The contact date: 2010-12-12. What is this mean??

6. The latest Yahoo! copyright is "Copyright © 2007".

7. Official email should states "All rights reserved." and "Terms of Service."

8. Last but not least, this email consists of other website link, that is, "http://survey.confirmit.com", which is a marketing survey provider. Obviously, someone is using this service to accumulate people email password for illegal purpose.

To conclude, this is very hard for hardworking and calm person to be cheated. Next time, when you have received some urgent email like this, please calm down, do your homework, and ask a favor.

That's all for today. More fascinating articles and sharing will be updated from time to time in Xaivier Blog. So, you are welcome to subscribe our feed, look at our sitemap or simply visit our Homepage.
