For Chinese, Lunar New Year is a very important festival that all the family members will gather together no matter where they are working currently. In this post, I am going to share with you about what we do before, during and after the festival.
Before Lunar New Year, all people is preparing to have a good sign at the beginning of the new year. A good sign includes "having a new beginning in the coming year", "all bad luck is gone", "good luck and fortune are coming" etc. Buying new clothes is one of the most common activities, I guess. Most important thing is to clean entire house, from inner to outer, to make it like a "new house" and "throw" the "old" and "bad" thing away. Besides, food and beverage should be prepared enough to treat guests who are going to come. After that, if affordable, some people will also decorate their house to make it full of New Year atmosphere.
During Lunar New Year, all people is expected to use polite, meaningful and "good sign" language, such as "Happy", "Fortunate", "Good" etc. For example, "Happy Near Year" and "Gong Xi Fa Cai" (Congratulations and Good Luck) are the most common greeting we speak during Lunar New Year. Besides, it is better for us to avoid doing unnecessary works during the first day of Lunar New Year, such as sweeping and cutting. Furthermore, people like me who hasn't married will receive "Red Packet" as a blessing from the elder.
After Lunar New Year, normally, in this competitive world, most people just start their work as usually. However, in fact, it is believed that all people will have a better performance and outcome during the new year. For me, new year should not only be the time for few days holidays and gathering, but also the time for us to review what we have done last year, and then make a better resolution in this new year to achieve better performance.
That's all for today. Happy Lunar Near Year and Gong Xi Fa Cai.
